In 2016, JGU celebrated the 70th anniversary of its reopening. Through the special exhibition ‘Mainz University History’ that was on display in Mainz City Hall from September 16 to November 9, 2016, it provided some very personal insights into university history.

What is it like living in Mainz and studying and working at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz? What is like to be one of the many thousands of people who stream onto the university campus every day? What goes on in an institution of this size? And what has changed over the recent decades?

Visit the exhibition online! It focuses on the people that make up this university - the researchers, teaching staff and students, not to mention the numerous other professionals involved in the everyday research and teaching activities.

Project director: Dr. Vera Hierholzer, Curator of the University Library Collections
